Program Description
The Los Angeles County Bar Association's International Law Section and the California Lawyers Association's International Law and Immigration Sections, in collaboration with the Democracy Center, are proud to present International Movie Night, featuring an award-winning film that examines freedom, democracy, and rule of law in other countries, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers or other experts.
Film Description
Invisible Nation explores Taiwan's emergence as a beacon for democracy in Asia amidst a struggle for international recognition and geopolitical risks that threaten its existence. This feature-length documentary includes perspectives from an array of government officials, academics, and activists, including the island's first female president, Tsai Ing-wen.

Following the screening, join a lively discussion with director Vanessa Hope and composer Wei-San Hsu about the film and what lessons can be drawn about democracy and rule of law.
