Program Description:
Chris Mufarrige, the Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the FTC, will describe the Trump-Vance FTC’s approach to consumer protection, privacy, data security, and AI. Director Mufarrige will describe the Commission’s efforts to protect kids online, through vigorous enforcement of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other laws the Commission enforces, and by promoting innovation in age verification technologies. Director Mufarrige will also speak to the Commission’s work to combat unfair practices in the ticketing and rental housing industries and promote reasonable data security practices. On the AI front, Director Mufarrige will explain how the Trump-Vance FTC promotes innovation in American AI by targeting bad actors who use AI to facilitate fraud or misrepresent the efficacy of its products and services.
